FAS just completed another pair of tournaments in June and July which raised funds for another important cause, The Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke University Medical Center. This donation is near and dear to the hearts of the Fairfax Adult Softball family as our long-time President, John Carney, tragically lost his eight year old son, Justin Daniel in 1994 after a brave battle with Medulloblastoma brain cancer.
Justin fought his battle with courage, hope and faith and FAS wants to continue his fight and help keep his memory and legacy alive by supporting Duke University. “At Duke, There is HOPE!” We believe they do make a difference with their ambitious and aggressive research and treatment of this terrible disease and our hope is that our contribution brought them closer to saving a life.
